You may have noticed that the ads and the "donate" button have disappeared from the site, and the "contact us" page no longer actually has an option to contact us.
I am completely overloaded with other commitments, and unable to offer any kind of support for the site other than continuing to make sure it's running and backed up. And so it's inappropriate, in my view, to accept further donations (in fact, any in the last few weeks have been refunded) or to show ads.
I apologize that support queries for the past several weeks have gone unanswered. I should have raised the white flag on this, oh, quite some time back.
Perhaps at some point in the future I'll be able to support Pocket-Monkey properly again, or more likely build a successor with modern technologies and the things I've always wanted to do with the site. I certainly hope so.
So on a "use it as you find it" basis, please continue to enjoy your games, I'll keep the site running for the foreseeable future. And accept my apologies in advance if you're hit by the various Chess bugs, or you're not using Java and can't accept a draw offer, etc.
Update 29th May: The "donate" button is back by popular demand. You folks are awesome, thank you.
TJ, we will enjoy the site and it's games 'as is' as long as possible. Hope you can handle your 'other commitments' with aplomb and/or joy. Thanks for all you do for us.
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
T.J. is there any possibility that you could recruit other "monkeys" to help you run the site...as another site a lot of us play at have others that help them, program things, etc etc.? You have a wonderful site here and I for one will continue to play as long as you provide it to us. Just some food for thought. Keep up the great work~!!!
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
Hi Lori - I'm afraid the time required to do that is more time than I have. But the site ticks along quite well on its own, other than issues with Chess games (mostly) and draws between non-Java users... :-)
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
T.J. ditto what everyone else has posted. I have enjoyed the site for many years and have conversed with many wonderful folks here. Thank you for all the time you have devoted to the site and I wish you the best of luck. Thank you, Terry
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
T.J., this is your time to reap the rewards after being underpaid for many years. You have established a nice user base and your site has lots of value for many folks, even if it is undersupported. If someone is willing to throw money your way, you deserve it and, IMO, should humbly accept it.
I certainly never minded seeing the Amazon ad (and even clicked through it when I wanted to buy something on Amazon), and the "Donate" button is very minimal, so I say do yourself a favor and bring 'em back.
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
Thanks Rob, much appreciated! Maybe the donate button will make a return at some point, but I have to say I'm amazed at how much faster pages load without the Amazon ad! I didn't realize it was slowing things down that much... It won't be back any time soon. :-)

TJ, I'd be glad to have you plaster the site with ads (as long as they didn't intrude on the games themselves) if it helped you to fund the site better and maybe reimburse yourself for an occasional bit of tinkering.
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
I use the Amazon ad clickthru quite a bit...so hopefully, you've gotten some revenue through that. Appreciate all the monkeys that created this site. :)
Re: Pocket-Monkey is in a "use it as you find it" state without support
No matter what you do or don't, I WILL KEEP PLAYING HERE!!! LOL No really, I appreciate what you do so much and hope we can keep playing this "as is" site for a long time in the future. I assume you have so much payed work, that the site is becoming too much, and I am glad for you for that!
Greetings from The Netherlands.

TJ you have a great site and have done a great job keeping it going. As long as Pocket Monkey keeps going I will keep playing.
You now need to take some time for you and yours.
