We've temporarily suspended game timeouts, probably for a week or so. This is for all of our players in North Carolina, Louisiana, and other southeastern states in the U.S. who have bigger things to worry about thanks to Hurricane (now Tropical Depression) Katrina.
Our best wishes are with them and everyone whose lives have been devastated or lost due to this extreme weather. -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com

T.J. you are so thoughtful!!!! Katrina has left so many with nothing... this is one of them sweet thoughtful things that is easy to do. what a good man!!!
what about the ppl whos profiles say they are not from those southern states. i have 3 ppl that havent moved in a month and they are from new york, cali and one other outta the country.. any way to separate the 2
They may have family in the south that they are trying to help, or they may be with the red cross or helping in them states, Did you ever think of that? Its only a game and not hurting a thing being there, you can have all the games you want on this site, start a new one with some one else,
Thank you for this as my webtv and this site are not getting along well love it here but have not been able to move much thank you for suspending the time outs helps me a lot lost a lot of games otherwise. Please PM me when you can thank you.
I play a gal at IYT who lives in Texas...I'm fairly certain that she has been badly affected by the hurricaines. As our game timed-out today, I felt very sad. I would have stopped the time out if I could have. I think that when we know that others may be suffering we should go out of our way to give love...even in the smallest of ways, maybe even especially in the smallest of ways. I don't want to win my games by default. My thoughts and prayers are with the people suffering and I'm considering myself very fortunate to still be here...playing my turns...when so many others aren't....Thanks, Pocket Monkey.
I, for one, wish to thank you for suspending the time-outs, due to Katrina.
I, for one, live in Mississippi, and we were really hit badly, by Katrina, too.
Don't wish NOT having, water, power, and losing a Refrigerator and Freezer full of food, for the month coming, for 2 weeks on ANYONE! These last 2 weeks, I think really have been the worst of my life, with the exception of losing my wonderful hubby and mother, within 6 weeks of each other, 21 years ago!
I CAN replace my food, but we CANNOT replace a life!
Welcome back! Thanks for the kind words. Suspending timeouts is obviously just the tiniest gesture, but it seemed like something we should do.
Glad you're back!
-- T.J. :-)

is there any way to suspend time outs indefinitely for those in the affected areas? I know a few that are indefinte what they are doing next nm a game... I support longer suspending them ack english, I support allowing longer time outs lol:D indefintely if possible for those in Mississipi and LA
Yes, I agree, we're going to leave them off for quite a while, probably a couple of months more. Timeouts are a fairly minor feature, and if leaving them off for a couple of months makes the slightest small difference to some of those affected by the tragedy, well, I think it's worth doing. As I said above, it's almost literally the least we could do.
This does mean that people's "Their Turn" lists may get a bit longer than usual, but please just bear with us on this. (The longest "Their Turn" list right now is 162 games -- wow. But those are nearly all active games, only 12 of them would have timed out if timeouts were on. The player in question has 179 games going at the moment.)
Thats good of you to do. For them that dont want the game on there game page ( but I dont see as it hurts a thing my self) they could stay there a year and it would be ok with me, I would just be glad to see them back all safe and sound,) But as I was saying for them that dont like it, can they ask you to take them off, But not give the win to any one player, just put N/A ????? this may give you some thing to think about later on for the site, a way for players to delete the games, If they are not moving or just want to end the came before it is sent back to them.
Thanks for the idea! There is something I've been kicking around for a while anyway, an option to "hide" games where your opponent hasn't moved in X days, that sort of thing... I think I've seen that on at least one other site. It would have to be optional. Anyway, that won't be near the top of the list. :-) -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com

Thank you for extending the time outs indefinitely. I am not playing with any effected I dont think, bout count as a dear friend 2 who were and their families, One lost their home in no, the other is fighting with insurance and to survive in Miss
I guess you weren't affected by Katrina or have any family that was affected or you wouldn't be saying that. It's a stupid game...people have lost EVERYTHING!!! I for one have NOT been affected but that doesn't mean we are without compassion. I think what TJ is doing is commendable. If others don't like it go to another game site with people who dont' care.
Never said it was stupid!!!! People that were not effected are taking advantage of it. And yes i do know someone who lost everything - my sister in law. She is now living with us. She too lost everything her home, her job and all of her personal belongings. So I do know how it feels !!!
I do not see were this is a big deal, you can have all the games you want, Start new ones with players that are on line, I am sure a lot of players that lost every thing are not getting a new Web Tv or PC just to get back on Line and play games,Other things come frist (like power to hook up to and a roof over head) We still have a lot of helpers down south from up here in the North. Trying to help them poor soles get there lifes back together, they to are not thinking about game play right now, I am sure if you dont want to wait for them ,you can just resign the game, so what you lose one game, But of all the sites I play on, this is the only one that has done this for them. My hat is off to Pockey Monkey, They do care about the player here, and to think you get this for free, I say keep the time limt off, it will be months yet before a lot of them gat back on line, (Note) we can not get our flu shot here ,thats all gone south too, there need it more then we do. because of the bad water and conditions there,I was told this by the doctors office yesterday,(we will get them but it will be later,)So you see we got a lot more to think about then just game play. If thats all you got to do your one of the lucky ones. Have a nice week end,
