Hi folks,

I thought, since we'll be adding Pente soon and so there's some discussion around it, that I should mention three things about our Gomoku and related games:

1. Currently, the game pieces are smaller than we would like, and we've had lots of people write in to ask that we make them larger. We're fixing this very soon.

2. Currently, we have the wrong player going first. :-) It should be black, but it's white. We'll be fixing that (and in a way which makes it look like it's been that way all along, as we did with Checkers a while back).

3. Currently, the game boards look a bit like checkerboards (but all in one color) and pieces get played inside the squares. This isn't correct; Gomoku, Connect6, and other derivatives of Go are played on boards where you place your stones on the intersection of two lines, not on squares that are separated by lines. (That's a bit awkward to explain, and a picture's worth a thousand words and all that, so here's one from the Wikipedia article on Go.) And you guessed it, we'll be fixing that at some point as well.

We'll be fixing these things in the order above with #1 and #2 probably being pretty soon; I'm not sure when we'll have time to do the work required for #3 but we will do it.

Enjoy your games!

Hi folks,

As you can see, #1 is now fixed, the pieces are about 18-19% larger than they were. (And if your Gomoku games look weird, read this entire thread.)

#2 and #3 coming at some point...
