I am curious at the number of players who don't know how to properly use the doubling cube. I doubled in tourney game to speed along the tournament but my opponent excepted the double even though I was bearing off and they were still transiting the board. It was quite a lead and impossible odds. Why except? I also recently had a chap who was ahead 2-0 in 9 point double me up to 8 even though I was cruising to victory. He finally resigned after I redoubled to 16. Now I'm up 8-2 for no reason. He could be very easily up 2-1 now, and still in good shape. I don't get it. I don't like to give pointers during the game because I don't want to make anyone feel bad or embarrassed. It's almost as if they won't relinquished that golden point even though they are certain to lose 2, or more.

In many cases I offer the cube to move on to the next round. I'm amazed how many times its accepted when theres no way of winning the game.
