My understanding is that ConEd, the Long Island Power Authority, the Public Service Enterprise Group, and FirstEnergy have now managed to restore power to their customers -- at least, if the customers in question still have houses in their original locations to restore power to. And if they have, I assume their counterparts in Maine, Virginia, etc. have done so as well.
So I'm thinking turning timeouts back on as of Friday would be reasonable. I mean, obviously not everyone affected will be back to normal. Far from it. People lost their lives, people lost their homes, people lost loved ones. For some, life will never be normal again. I'm just thinking that as the communities affected slowly return to normal, perhaps so should we.
But it's hard to gauge these things from over here in the UK. Feedback?
I guessing yes, turn back on,.. if someone is affected, maybe reinstate games on case by case request if any comes up resulting from said reasons as a fallback ?
Thanks for the time out support T J. It was a big help here where the storm damage was horrific. Anyone now that does not have power does not have a house to put it on.

I am in New York State in an area that did not lose power, but not far from areas that still have power out. Now the power is out mainly in the eastern NYC/western LI area and it will be quite awhile for some to get power back due to all the damage and inspections that need to be done. I am thinking put the timeouts back on, but make some sort of password thing to restore the games at some latter date. Now I suppose you can only have the games on hold for a set period of time, I would make it two months from now for the "holding period".
I think they would want you to return to normal.... Some may never recover and at some point you have to make a call, whether it's this friday, next mondy or even a month from tuesday..... i don't think it will matter....
I would say yes turn them back on!!! and Thank you for your understanding I feel you have been more than generous

I think you should turn the timeouts back on. I also think you should make it part of the game to be able to request a reinstatement from your opponent, as another site I play on does. Hurricane Sandy was horrifying for those on the East Coast but sometimes you just have and emergency beyond your control (i.e., hospital, ill child, death, etc) and you just can't play on time.

Something along those lines is on the To Do list, although not quite that. But unfortunately won't happen soon (not in time to help folks affected by Sandy).
Okay, we'll turn timeouts back on on Saturday morning.
