In the past few days, Microsoft released an update to Internet Explorer which changes how you the user have to interact with Java applets and ActiveX controls embedded in web pages, a change to how things have been done for nearly ten years. (In their defense, I think they were forced to do this by a lawsuit, but I haven't double-checked that yet.) If you have automatic updates turned on, you'll be getting this update, um, automatically, and so things seem to have just suddenly changed.
There are details on the update here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/912945/en-us. Basically, the change in Internet Explorer is that Java applets and ActiveX controls must now be "activated" by the user by clicking on them. Some Java users here have reported that they have to click the game twice before anything happens -- that's because the first click just "activates" our applet, and then the second click actually does something. Similarly, people saying that the mouse cursor remains a "hand" until after the first click are seeing the same thing.
Microsoft says there's a way around it I may be able to apply to our web pages (another bit of evidence that this is a legal thing), which I'm investigating now, but realistically you may have to do this click-to-activate thing for a few days. -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com
I've updated our pages (for IE only) in line with Microsoft's description of how we get around the problem. Unfortunately, I don't currently have a way of testing whether it actually does get around the problem (because I don't have that version of IE yet), but it doesn't appear to cause a new problem.
If someone who was having the problem could post a note here telling me whether it's now fixed, that would be great. I hate to do work-arounds in the dark, but this was only going to be a bigger issue as more and more people applied the Microsoft update.
boy I'm glad i wasnt the only one that had to double click on here..lol its also working for me to..:o) yes small things like this can be so frustrating. man..lol

I AM HAVIN TO DOUBLE CLICK YET, AND YES, I AM ALSO SEEIN THE HAND WHEN I GO TO MAKE A MOVCE OR ANYTHING. HOPEFULLY IT WILL CLEAR UP SOON~! THANKS FOR THE GREAT SITE, ENJOY PLAYIN HERE, AND I DO DAILY, HECK SOMETIMES HALF HOURLY, LOL
Thanks! Sorry to hear you're still running into something. As you can see from the others posting here, we do seem to have worked around the problem with IE, so it must be something else. I'm not sure what it could be, though... -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com
