There are some backgammon players making their moves only just to avoid a time out. So there are matches played for years and years and there are tournament rounds actually stopped for this reason. I found 2 or 3 such players. I don't want to say their names. I think all of us know them but I thing the administrator has to do something about this situation
I don't understand!!! as I sometimes play as my time out dates. This is play time on my time, i have 1 day to 90 day games, so i play them at times per time out. I may play my 14 day game on day 13. But my 1 and 3 day first. Sometimes i'm here and can make that 90 day move but don't. I have also resigned a game or to because I wanted a faster game. I would not call that a slow player.
heres to spupid ? if you want fast games! Why not take the fast games, less time less time to move....

I am talking for players making this systematically and always. Here is a list of tournaments. You can see that all the games are ended and the only pending games belongs to a specific player, always the same. There are other 4 or 5 such players in the site.
Jun06 Standard BG-5 July06 Fast BG-21 Sep06 Standard BG-9 Oct06 Standard BG-5 Nov06 Standard BG-9 Dec06 Standard BG-5 Dec06 Standard BG-9 Mar07 Standard BG-5 Mar07 Standard BG-9
Dec07 Standard BG (1 game for all other players)
Please if anyone has a logical explanation I would like to listen it Nov06 Standard BG-21 (2 games for other players)

The logical explanation is that they are playing within the time limits for the game. If they don't, the game will time out, end of discussion. If they continue to play within the time limits, they are doing what they agreed to do.
If you don't want to play games with 7 or 14 day limits, don't sign up for them. (not to discourage you from playing, I think we are playing some games and you have been nothing but a great player).
The bigger issue is that the tournaments go on even when a clear winner for a section has been determined. Fixing that would speed up tournaments to no end. But there is one programmer for the site (not a slight to TJ, I'm sure he has a life outside of this free site).

Of course they are playing within the time limits of the games and of course they are legal. But I am talking only for a few players. They make moves every day only in games near to time out and ignore all the others. Again it is legal but I think it is not fair and it is suspicious.

I can see where you might want the tournament to end faster, but I guess I just don't get the motives you are ascribing to them.
How is it "unfair"? And suspicious of what? Do they have some dark plan to take over the world through devious, slow-backgammon powers?
now i know why i don't do the tornies..... as i play 1 on 1 you out of nowhere pick as it seems you got time to pick, maybe you need more tornies...... 2 to 3 then 4 to 5 players out of all that play tornies here... I ? why you are picking just them in your tornies.... I'm sure others in tornies have more than u, as u r only 2007 and 2008. I have friends in them for 3 years. I have friends that have been dealing with the ones you speak about 4 several years before you. Its there time and they make there move as they do. Sorry But U need to be able to see that there are players here 24 7 and then others here 4 that 3 min. that are free,...

Thank you T.J. I agree with your ideas. So it happens. Iam not a mad. Of course I can ignore them. And here is a suggestion from me about this. Can you set a limit about the open tournaments has a player simultaneously(i think 50 is a good number). These players sign in a lot of tournaments and delays all of them. With this limit you can eliminate their ability to do this.
thank you for pointing out this problem. i am still playing in the 2nd round of the jan 07 tourney because of ONE player! yes he is within his rights to play within the time controls but its hardly fair to the other players in the tourney to be held up like this. its exactly for this reason that after this match is FINALLY done i wont be back. feel free to close my account if you wish that way i wont be tempeted to come back and make the same mistake again. its been real, and at times its been fun, but all in all it hasnt been real fun.
maybe he's going for the last record of the longest game running, lol. as it was advertised not that long ago. if hes in his time limit there still should be no problem!!!!! so hes slow.... maybe as he has his reasons it's not anyones problem if he's doing his games his way not yours.
I'm sorry but i think this is so petty and pic pic. u want faster torney play . play faster less time torneys. To pic on player of slow what ever reason is not fair.
tj i do hope u intro torney stops at some time, these people are not getting it. as it is set now all take there own time in game, if its last sec. so be it, its there time.
to clarify no i do not know player bitching but its nonsence to me for his bitching. u r doing every thing u can to make all happy and a great job. some need to understand how program works, if now as its set and then ask to have it revised and how that can be done if it can be done.... sorry but i bitch about small things.... :)the pros playing want fast but they join the small groups to get the win and bitch cause there not fast play. i know u see this 2.
well games nut you sure had your say lol.. Agree that if a game has a time limit and played within that time limit, whats the problem, thats what you agree when signing up for the tournie.
