Hi Jock and TJ I would like to ask if there is any plans in the future to add the cube to Hypergammon?
This adds a great twist on the game in a totally different way to what the cube does in normal backgammon. The chances of gammons, hence double points, is much greater in hypergammon and creates a lot of fun and tension to a fantastic version of the traditional game.
Also, if anyone shares a love of hyper like I do I will accept any game invites for any time lengths.
Thanks! That's a good idea. We didn't do it originally for a couple of reasons, not least because the backgammon variants are kind of taking over the list of available games. :-) So we were kind of holding off until we made the game list a bit more hierarchical -- you know, you pick from Backgammon, Checkers, Chess, etc., and then select the specific variant you want to play. Not sure that's a good reason to hold off, though.
I can think of another good reason to have cube for Hypergammon though.
Obviously a cube in any backgammon variant adds to the appeal of the game for many people. Often though, people avoid cube games because they can be to drawn out in a regular backgammon game. Not so with Hyper because it is by far the faster BG variant and thus the appeal of using the cube may tempt more players to explore this option rather than play a simple game of regular backgammon with no cube.
Hmmmm, after reading this message before posting, it has become clear to me that I will find any justification for implementation ;)
