I am thinking of running a backgammon ladder. I can place the ladder on my own webspace and provide a link to the ladder to allow all participants to see the updates and track their progress.
Before I decide how best to run this, I would like to get an idea of everyone who wishes to participate.
Once I have a number, it will give me a better idea on how best to run the ladder.
If you are interested, please either send me a message to let me know, or just post on this thread. Posting on this thread will be easier but some people may wish to remain anonymous, in which case I am happy to receive a message instead.
at this time it certainly doesnt look like the interest is there. I expected a lot more people to show there interest by now. Certainly I expected more than 1 LOL
It hasn't been on the board that long and I imagine that many people, knowing that the board is so quiet, don't check it for a week or three at a time!
It might be profitable to do a mailshot to selected players. Those who are playing in the backgammon tournies are a reasonable starting point. That way you'll at least know that you're sending to active players.
Alternatively, perhaps you could persuade TJ to do a site message (unless those are only shown in the forum, in which case it might suffer from the same "not seen" fate).
Thanks for the support. Wacky is great. The idea of a ladder is to have fun as well as be a bit of a challenge. If the right people participate it can also create so good camerarderie (spelling)
I will set to work on some instructions this weekend and get TJ to look over them first to ensure I am not missing anything before making them public.
Evenif we start with just a few people hopefully others will see us having a good time and want to join
everyone has as much chance as the other and the good thing about ladders is if you slip, you can always go on a bit of a roll and gain the ground you lost quite quickly
I have finally composed a set of rules etc to run the ladder but before making it public I have sent it to T.J. to give it the "once over" for a few reasons 1. I dont want to do anything involving PM without T.J.s knowledge first 2. If I have slipped up in any way, which wouldnt surprise me, T.J. might notice it and/or give me a suggestion to make it better.
Until then, everyone keep sending their requests to join and I will ensure you are all included at the commencement of it in the very near future.
I've sent you a reply. It's your ladder, not ours, but FWIW nothing in the rules jumped out. Please do be clear, though, that this ladder is something you're doing, not a Pocket-Monkey thing.
OK I have everything ready and will be launching the ladder on Saturday. I will send PM's out to everyone who has told me they want to participate. Good Luck and have fun
Hi Paul Not sure what it entails but am interested
