I wanted to take a moment to remind people that it's important to actively "whitelist" pocket-monkey.com with your email provider, so messages from Pocket-Monkey don't end up being mistakenly filed as junk mail. (Separately, Pocket-Monkey does not, and can not, reply to the automated "are you a real person" verification messages that some email providers use. Whitelisting also deals with that.) This is one of the terms of the User Agreement, that you'll provide us with a valid email address for an account you actually read and that you ensure Pocket-Monkey can contact you on that account (as well as keeping us up-to-date if you change email addresses).
Please whitelist all email from pocket-monkey.com, not just specific email addresses like support@pocket-monkey.com. All major email providers give you the ability to whitelist domains. For details of how you do it, please refer to your service provider.
And just as a reminder: Pocket-Monkey does not, and never will, spam you. We only email you if we have a good reason to, or if you've asked us to email you turn notifications and such.
Thanks, and as always, enjoy your games! -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com
I recently tried to update my email address and received a pop-up message that said I would receive an email prompt at the new email address, but I never received it. What do I do now? I am not blocking any mail from Pocket-Monkey.com; but I never got a verification email. Just wanted you to know this, okay?
Sorry to hear about the trouble. You may not be blocking email from Pocket-Monkey, but unless you've gone and told your provider to whitelist us, they may be blocking us. (There's no particular reason they should, but it happens sometimes.) There's probably an email from us in your "junk mail" folder or something.
You can have us resend the email just in case it got lost in the ether:
Go to your Edit Profile page (e.g., click Settings).
Look at the email address listed, just in case there was a typo. If there's a typo, that's the problem -- just fix it and we'll automatically send you a new verification email.
If it's right, look at the top of the page. When you have an outstanding email change, the top of that page has a link saying "Click here to confirm your recent email address change". Click the given link, and it will take you to a page to manually enter your verification code.
Click the "Resend Code" button on that page to have us send you a new email with the code.
Once you have the email, you can either copy-and-paste the code into the confirmation box, or (and this is much easier) just click the link in the email.
Thanks T.J.! I think there was just a time lag on the verification email. I did get it and I clicked on the link but instead of recieving a confirmation of my new email address it took me HERE to this message thread!??? I'm not sure that's what should have happened! I'm rather confused about all this now. IS there a way for you to check and see if my new email address was properly confirmed? From MY end (on my profile page) everything LOOKS okay to me! I hope that means everything was updated properly now???
We send the email immediately; you should have it within a minute or two unless your email provider runs into a delay processing it (which can happen sometimes).
I can't think of any reason the link in the email would take you to this forum thread. Are you sure that your browser didn't open the link in a new tab or something?
In any case, if you don't have the "Click here to confirm your recent email address change" link at the top of your Edit Profile page, you've successfully verified it. If you do, just fill in the code from the email and click Confirm.
Go to your Edit Profile page (e.g., click Settings).
* DID THIS
Look at the email address listed, just in case there was a typo. If there's a typo, that's the problem -- just fix it and we'll automatically send you a new verification email. * MY NEW EMAIL ADDREsS WAS CORRECTLY LISTED
Click the given link, and it will take you to a page to manually enter your verification code. Click the "Resend Code" button on that page to have us send you a new email with the code. Once you have the email, you can either copy-and-paste the code into the confirmation box, or (and this is much easier) just click the link in the email.
* THERE WAS NO LINK AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE SAYING "CLICK HERE TO CONFIRM YOUR RECENT EMAIL ADDRESS CHANGE"
May I presume then that me new email address was properly confirmed within the new system???? I got no pop-up indicating such, nor do I know if I was supposed to? I think I did everything correctly, but I just want to make sure that I did. THank you!
Yup, if you don't have the link, it's confirmed. Yes, there is a page that says "Your email has been confirmed," I think it must have shown up in a different browser window or browser tab when you clicked it in the email.
In any case, if there's no link and your address is right, you're good to go.
