Hi folks,

Over the past couple of days, I've been fixing a problem where some ISPs (like AOL and RoadRunner) were ignoring email sent by Pocket-Monkey. This was brought to my attention by a couple of players saying "It's strange, I haven't gotten any turn notifications from you guys in a couple of days now."

It turned out to be a technical issue where ISPs were ignoring email from Pocket-Monkey because our reverse DNS entry had somehow been dropped. (ISPs usually ignore sites that don't have reverse DNS entries because most of those sites are spammers.) It's not clear why our reverse DNS entry was dropped, but it very clearly had been, which explained the problem.

So I fixed the reverse DNS entry, and, well, the mail is getting delivered again. But much to my surprise (although I should have seen it coming), it's not just new mail, but quite a lot of the old mail that was sent in the meantime, too, stored up either on our server (retrying failed attempts to deliver the messages) or on theirs.

Either way, the result is that if your ISP was blocking mail from Pocket-Monkey for the past few days, suddenly you'll be getting a lot of it now it's unblocked. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, since of course you've probably already played the games that it's trying to notify you about.

Anyway, it's a one-off, now our reverse DNS is restored messages will go out as normal. Sorry for any trouble.

Enjoy your games!
