Minor Update Message #4109    Replies: 0
posted by T.J. (T.J. Crowder) on 10/29 at 10:12
Hi folks,

I've posted a minor update to the site today:
  • Halma is out of testing mode -- games can now be rated!
  • Pente is also out of testing mode!
  • Bugfix: Checkers didn't detect end-of-game when a player had pieces but couldn't move; now it does (and Anti-Checkers now handles that correctly -- as a win).
  • Bugfix: Apparently, when we did the update last May we introduced a new bug. It used to be that if you offered a draw to a player using the DHTML games, it would automatically be declined (because of a different problem that the DHTML games can't accept or decline draw offers). But apparently in May we introduced a bug where if you did that, the receiving player got the message "You can't pass your turn" as soon as they went into the game, and then they could make a move (with it still complaining they were trying to pass their turn). When they finally sent their turn, it would be registered -- meaning that the player who offered the draw lost a turn. This bug was introduced when we fixed a different, general problem with offering draws. This was just brought to my attention this week (although I had gotten a couple of earlier reports, I hadn't quite caught the significance), and it's now fixed.
[DHTML players still can't accept or reject a draw. :-( This'll be the case until we complete the infrastructure work I've talked about elsewhere...]
  • Bugfix: As if the above weren't bad enough, DHTML players also couldn't offer a draw anymore. This was also a new bug introduced earlier this year. This was brought to my attention Friday (thanks, longig!), and is now fixed.
Enjoy your games!
