The data center people tell me that the connectivity of our server in their facility is now running correctly and not showing any problems, and has been for at least a couple of days.
If you routinely get an error from your browser saying that Pocket-Monkey could not be found, or all pages in the site load very slowly, please let me know by posting a note to this thread. Please DO NOT confuse the issue by posting other problems here. For instance, if you can get to the site reliably, but you're having trouble making moves in games, that's probably not a connectivity problem. If you use Java and the various pages of the site are fast, but going into (and moving between) games is slow, that's probably not a connectivity problem. If you use Java and your browser crashes sometimes when you're playing your games, that's probably not a connectivity problem. Sorry to beat the drum a bit here, but people do have a tendency to "hijack" forum threads, and I'm trying to get this connectivity thing resolved so we can get back to normal 'round here. :-)
For my part, things seem to be back to normal (within the bounds of my not-always-as-reliable-as-I-would-like DSL connection).
Yes I can see that what ever it was you did, It WORKED well. I am not having the java error at all and I can get through my line up of games, without having the browser error message ask me to debug, and then close. Thus I do not have to open and log in again just to play 1 more game before it did it again. Thanks guys for your technical victory here.
Ah...that wasn't a connection problem. For that one, you can thank Dr Feelgood for identifying some cause and effect which helped us figure out a weird interplay between Internet Explorer, Java, and Google's ads; details here...
Glad it's working for you! -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com

Got a "site not found" search page tonight. It only seems to happen when the computer is sitting idle for a while with the site logged on, not while I'm actively playing. Hasn't happened for at least a week. Not sure if this is the connectivity problem others were having or not, but thought I'd let you know.
Did go though a period of "Do you want to report this problem to MS?" Nope. Found if I approached the 'creature' with caution ... log on ... wait (ta da, ta da)... click to play ... (dum de dum de)... click to enlarge the page .. (hmmm de da hmmm) .. and then play it would go through. It was as if it needed the time to slo-o-wly consider what I wanted. To hurry was to go to ...'do you want to report? ... etc'. Now ... clickclickclick - right into the game. Good going, TJ.
TJ.. just wanted to add that this just started. I haven't had a problem for a couple weeks now/ If I can help by providing more info, just let me know.
Sorry to hear about the trouble. It may be something you want to ask your ISP to look into, as it appears to be isolated. But just in case, would you send me a "traceroute" from your computer? To do that using Windows:
Choose "Start | Run..." to get a "Run" dialog box.
In the "Run" dialog box, type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press Enter. (If you're running an old version of Windows, it'll say it can't find a program with that name. If that happens, try "command" instead.)
You'll get a window with a blinking cursor just to the right of some kind of folder name, something like "C:\Documents and Settings\wendy>", something like that (the exact text that appears may be slightly different). This is a command window where you type commands and the machine carries them out and shows you the results. Type "tracert www.pocket-monkey.com > c:\pmtrace.txt" (without the quotes) and press [Enter]. (Computers are finicky things, be sure you type exactly what appears between the quotes. In particular, note that the character after the colon in c:\pmtrace.txt is NOT the slash character on the question mark key, it's a backslash, which unfortunately is in different places on different keyboards.)
The machine will now trace the route that your network traffic takes to get to our servers, with very rough timings of each step in the route, and it will write it out to a file called c:\pmtrace.txt. You'll know when it's done because a new line with "C:\Documents and Settings\wendy>" (or whatever) and a blinking cursor will appear. This will take somewhere between 10 seconds and two minutes.
Close the command window.
Email the file c:\pmtrace.txt to me at tj@pocket-monkey.com.
I don't think the problem is at our end or even in our data center, but it's best to double-check. It could be an issue with the way your ISP routes your traffic to us, or something else entirely. -- T.J. Crowder First Primate Pocket-Monkey.com
