I just wanted to post to say that here at Pocket-Monkey central, we're celebrating Pocket-Monkey's Fourth Birthday! We're not sure of the exact date, but the site was first open to the general public sometime in October of 2002, after six months of hard work and testing by our Founding Monkey Jock. (For more Pocket-Monkey history, click here.)
And so it's a reasonable time for a "State of The Monkey" sort of post. :-)
I'd have to say that on the whole, things are going fairly well. The big update in May with the new layout, color themes, tournaments, better graphics, and a few other things has been a success, and since then we've been able to addseveralnewgames, give you choices for your game board colors (to complement color themes), make it easier than ever to invite people to join Pocket-Monkey, improve the Active Players list, update notifications, and sort out various speed issues. The number of active games being played on the site has tripled in the last five months, mostly due to tournaments, and yet the site is faster than it's been in years.
But there's still so much to do! :-) I've written separately on what our priorities will be in the coming months, but first and foremost is the fact that there are still major bugs in the DHTML (non-Java) games. We're going to address those issues, and also issues with our Java games, with some internal changes which will take a little time to do. Please check out this post for more about our upcoming plans.

Hey TJ keep up the good work this site tops a lot of the long term sites out there on the web. All you good game players should be banging the drum and dragging in all their game playing buddies from other sites. Lets help TJ, staff and our selfs build this into the biggest site on the web.

Happy Happy Birthday Pocket-monkey, I visit this site edvery day and send my friends to it. I have not had very many problems on this site and I like that there are no limitations. This site has the best people very friendly!
